Preschool Schedule

 8:15-8:45 AM   Arrival & Opening Activities

12:00-12:30 PM (Listening skills, calendar, days/week, (2nd sem. Months & o’clocks) recognize printed name, syllables in names, letter sounds, patterning, counting, shapes, colors, rhymes, phonemic awareness and vocabulary stressed.)

 8:45- 10:15 AM  Free Choice Centers & Small Groups (At time includes Large Motor Activity.)

12:30- 2:00 PM  (Individual skill building; cooperative play, sharing, creative problem solving, readiness skills, small muscle building, Handwriting Without Tears , art activities, etc)

 10:15-10:45 AM      Large Group

2:00-2:30 PM    (Language, math, science, music; discussions, sharing time, reading and math readiness, phonemic awareness learning about world around us, games, role playing, stories.)

10:45-11:00 AM      Snacks and Story

2:30 – 2:45 PM

 11:00–11:15AM     Recall and Outdoor/Large Motor Activity

2:45- 3:10 PM   

(Learning centers during the year include: art, water, sand, writing, camping, fire station, native American village, beauty shop hospital, post office, restaurant, Hawaiian, math science, book, puppet, music, block/truck, carpentry, machines/inventions,  Santa workshop, listening, home-living and manipulative. Large muscle activities include time in the gym, balls, beanbags, scooters, roller skates, balance beam, tunnel, basketball, t-ball, outdoor playground.)

Our preschool is offered to all children in the Tekamah-Herman school district who are 4 years old by July 31. Children may attend a morning or afternoon session four half days each week.

Children explore a risk-free hands-on environment where they are encouraged to explore and learn at their own rate. All activities and practices support and facilitate  the children to grow cognitively, socially, physically and emotionally. The environment encourages children in their emerging language, literacy and math skills,  and science, music and art awareness through active exploration,hands-on learning activities, a balance between individual and group activities, centers that change at least once a month, and supportive and    loving teachers with expertise in early childhood education.
